Using fundamental anatomical principles, and her holistic understanding of the vocal mechanism, Dorothy has spent the last 30 years working with all types of voices, and has spent the last decade focusing on troubled or damaged voices in particular.
In 2010, Dorothy returned to her scientific/medical roots, and undertook a specialized course in anatomy and somatic studies at Tufts University in Boston, under the tutelage of Dr. Gil Hedley and the Institute for Somatic Studies, with a focus on the vocal and breathing mechanisms. This advanced training, combined with her clinical experience and her foundation in functional voice principles, has given her an in depth understanding and facility for diagnosis and restoration.
She has brought singers who were unable to phonate or sustain pitches back to professional careers, and her work has been an invaluable "secret weapon" in maintaining overworked voices on tours and in vocally demanding productions.
